Beyond the Borders will bring the latest in digital technology to Hexham’s Old Gaol.
Opening on November 28th 2015, this brand new installation will bring visitors face-to-face with prisoners who lived many centuries ago. The aim of this heritage learning project is to give present-day prisoners in North East prisons and also the general public the opportunity to explore regional history.
Organisers of the project have worked with inmates in prisons today including HMP Durham & HMP Frankland to bring to life the real stories of the prisoners of the past. The creative team behind this new exhibition have a diverse skill set that spans interaction and product design, animation, creative writing and North East history. Collaborating with Dilly Arts, Arcus Studios and Attaya Projects with support from Hexham Old Gaol and with expert input from leading professionals, this project is expected to be a huge success.
