Glossop is a market town set within the High Peak District of Derbyshire, England. Glossops history dates back to Roman times, who first settled here in 80AD built a road over the Pennines that descended into the Etherow valley along Doctor's Gate. The industry in Glossop was supported by the fast-flowing water supply and became the centre of the cotton trade. Today, Glossop is best known for its surrounding beauty and a centre of culture, artworks, locally produced meats from award winning J.W Mettrick & Son LTD, puddings and Beers and Glossop Antique Centre.
