Hawick is a town, nestled within the borders of Scotland. Hawick is a short distance from Selkirk and jedburgh and is at the meetings of Slitrig Water and the River Teviot. The town has become known for its knitwear, Hawick Cashmere is a sought after quality product, loved by many. The textile manufacturing industry was a successful one, the heritage of which is presented in the Borders Textile Tower House and Hawick plays a part in the Textile Trail. The Hawick Museum & Scot Gallery is worth a visit, especially when exhibitions are visiting. Wilton Lodge Park in Hawick is a beautiful place, with walled gardens and wooded walks, situated along the banks of the River Teviot. There is a monument which takes centre stage in Hawick known as ‘The Horse’, it represents a victory by the youth of the town over English invaders in nearby Hornshole in 1514.
