New Mills is a small town within Derbyshire, England. The history of new Mills is that of coal mining, cotton spinning, bleaching and calico printing, due to its proximity to the Peak Forest Canal, export was made easy. The tow paths give access to the 16 locks of Marple and Bugsworth Basin. The town stands above a natural rock gorge known as The Torrs sitting at the meetings of the River Goyt and the River Sett and is at the North-West edge of the Peak District. You will also find The Torrs Riverside Park which links to the Sett Valley Trail, Midshires Way and the Goyt Way. To visit here is New Mills Heritage Centre and the fantastic New Mills Torrs & Union Road Bridge, New Mills Torrs Millennium Walkway & Hydro.
