Prudhoe is a town just south of the River Tyne, in the southern part of the county of Northumberland. Prudhoe was once a coal mining town and the industry and tourism are still major factors in the town's economy. Prudhoe Castle is a popular attraction for tourists visiting Northumberland. A Norman Castle which was for a long time involved the border wars between England & Scotland.
