Stranraer is a town in Wigtownshire, Scotland. The town of Stranraer is situated in southwest Scotland lying on Loch Ryan and is known as the gateway to the Rhins of Galloway. Before the terminal was relocated to Cairnryan, Stranraer was the main ferry port connecting Scotland to Belfast in Northern Ireland. Stranraer’s most notable building and tourist attraction is the Castle of St John, Stranraer’s four story medieval tower house, built by Ninian Adair around 1500. Other attractions include Stranraer Town Hall which now houses the Stranraer Musuem, Castle kennedy Gardens, Dunksey Gardens, Secret Garden @ Lime Orchid and the Ryan Centre Theatre.
